Remote Desktop For Mac OS X

Remote Desktop Connection On A Mac Do you think Microsoft hates Mac’s? Well, I’m sure they do except when it comes to running Microsoft software. They made Microsoft Office for a Mac because they saw an open opportunity to make more money.

One thing that I wasn’t aware of until browsing Microsoft’s Mac software page was that they have a Remote Desktop Connection client available for Mac users to download. This will enable them to connect to another Windows computer located at a remote location. Duh!

That sounds like it was nice of them and it is, but I’m sure they had other motives for doing it. Who knows…maybe they were really doing it out of the kindness of their hearts. However, with Boot Camp now available there may not be as large of a need for Mac users to remotely connect to a Windows machine when they can just run it on their own computer.

    Don’t forget this:
    (From Wikipedia)
Terminal Services or Terminal Server Edition (TSE) is a component of Microsoft Windows operating systems (both client and server versions) that allows a user to access applications or data stored on a remote computer over a network connection. Terminal Services is Microsoft’s take on server centric computing, which allows individual users to access network resources easily. Based on the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP)…

So, YES, Microsoft has something to win by releasing a Mac version of the Remote Desktop Client.

Don’t forget about the tons of users with a Mac at home and a PC at work…this app lets them connect (depending on their VPN at least)….I’ve used it for ages to connect to PCs on my network from my Macs…and it’s been around for years on the MS Mac site.
